Blue eyes are found in Bernese Mountain Dogs, but not much is known about them. It is similar to the blue eyes found in huskies in that there is no affect on the coat, but it appears to be random, not dominant but potentially recessive. There are not many fanciers of the blue eyed Bernese Mountain Dog.
Controversy[]
Surprisingly health is not an arguement for blue eyed Bernese Mountain Dogs, fanciers have actually stated that there are no health problems associated with blue eyes in a Bernese Mountain Dog[1],
Standard[]
It is well known among Bernese Mountain Dog breeders that blue eyes are considered undesirable and are not standard.[2]
